Meir visits north, attacks government for inaction
Hadera, Israel: Today Jewish Home chairman Rafi Meir toured northern Israel today and attacked the government`s lack of preparation during the 2006 war which saw over a million Israelis in bomb shelters and over 250,000 having to flee from their homes due to Hezbollah rocket fire. During the tour the chairman visited homes still damaged due to rocket fire and held informal meetings with residents to listen to their concerns. Meir in talking to the press condemned former prime minister Olmert for not investing in technology capable of shooting down rockets that endanger Israeli lives and argued this was due to continued mismanagement from the Kadima government. "We had close to 3,970 and 4,228 rockets being fired into this region of Israel and not one device was used to shoot it down. 23% of these rockets hit cities and built-up areas across northern Israel. rather than invest in the technology and bring in the private sector, this government failed to do either but launch a war they where unprepared to take on. Which resulted in the deaths of 44 of our citizens, this government will continue to have blood on their hands as long as they continue to be this nation`s government."

In his speech afterwards the prime minister stressed that Likud would be the party to reunite the country after years of derision caused by the previous government and that his government would strive to repair the damage of the IDF after the war in Lebanon. He also mentioned in his first days in office he would meet with military brass and regular soldiers to assess the situation on the ground. The prime minister also mentioned his intentions to form a strong government with willing coalition partners and to stress his non-commitment to a two state situation.

Labor is weak on terror, PM resolved to pass anti-Palestinian terror bill
Jerusalem, Israel: In a speech to terror victims, Prime Minister Rafi Meir condemned the Labor party for being weak on Palestinian terrorism by not supporting the controversial Removal of Financial Aid Due to Palestinian Terror bill. The bill would remove direct Israeli assistance, loan guarantee, or debt relief to the Palestinian Authority or any affiliated governing entity or leadership organization. If there was a terrorist attack to a occur, the bill would also grant the prime minister the authority to remove the prohibition once the Palestinian Authority met several demands by the Israeli government. In his speech the prime minister stated that the Labor party did not care about terror victims if they couldn't simply back a bill that would punish the leadership and not the people. "The difference between this government and the Labor party is we see the human toll of what terrorism does to this country. I see you all here and I am angry that the taxpayer has to send payments to keep the Palestinian Authority alive while they do nothing to crack down on terror. This bill has secures that in order for the economic sanctions to be dropped, formally recognized the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state, purged all individuals with terrorist ties from security services and publicly pledged to not engage in war with Israel. Does the Labor party not value these commitments as a Zionist party in the land of Israel? Or as always are they weak on terrorism and defense."
